Things I'm excited for.

So.
A few things on the docket.
Coming up, Denver's family's going to this annual campout in Springville.
Last year we went up for half a day to hang out, but that was it.
This year, we're getting to go overnight..
I'm pretty excited.
They have a bunch of games going-
Denver's excited for the frisbee football. I'm excited for the human slingshot.
What's a human slingshot you ask? Probably not what you're imagining.
What I am referring to is a massive band of stretchy fabric that you get 4 people to stand on the inside of and make a square. The two people facing each other runs across the way to the other side and pushes as far as they can while the other two do the same, bouncing all 4 people like balls in pinball machine.
It gets pretty intense.
We're not going to be camping out, however. We can't have our own tent because it's a church function and we are sinners who live together unwed, you see. We could stay in his mom's tent, but considering I generally only get one night a week with him (he works nights) I do not feel like spending his vaca time snoozing in between his mom and his twin sister. I would like to be snuggled up next to my sweetie.
So I booked a room at the Days Inn 15 minutes away.
This did/does not please Mama Jensen- but that's ok.
She'll still be happy we're making the effort to come out for more than an evening.
Upon reserving the room at the brand new Days Inn in Springville I realized that this will be his and my's first time staying in a plain ol hotel room together.
We've gone on plenty of trips together, but they've always been in houses or tents.
There was one time that we stayed at Anniversary Inn- but our room was a train car.
That hardly counts.
I'm oddly excited. Even though we will be arriving there late and leaving ever so early- it shall still be soemthing new, and I welcome it. :)
Funniest part to the entire fiasco is that I just NOW thought of Rosco- a week after reserving the hotel room. And wondered what teh heck we are going to do with him.
We can't take him to the campout- that is for sure.
I thought about my options.
Which I then discovered were pretty bleak.
Then a picture of my lovely neighbor and dear friend popped into my head.
Jackie!
I've known Jackie for quite a while.
We became friends in 7th grade, which was 8 years ago.
We went to different high schools and didn't get to see each other very much for a while there, but now we happen to live in the same apartment complex in buildings facing each other. We can literally stand on our patio and look out towards theirs (she's married, btw).
It's been refreshing to be able to catch up with her and keep in touch. We go to lunch together almost on a weekly basis and I feed her beta fish when they go out of town.
This brought me to the beautiful realization that, if they're up to it, I could just give them a key to the place for the two days and they could take him out every now and then for walks and food and potty breaks.
What a convenience considering they're about our only option.
She's pretty excited to be able to play with the pup, so it all works out.
Yippee!!

On an earlier note- I was surfing Etsy this morning and came across this lovely shop.
This woman makes adorable vintage-looking jewelry and I adored her earrings.
This means something coming from the gal who owns about 3 pairs of earrings as is... (that were all gifts. :)
I ended up buying these two pairs:

I easily could have spent hundreds of dollars on this woman's jewelry.
I'm still finding items to add to my wish list...

Antother day.
So. I'm hoping they look as cute in person as they are in these pictures. :)

That's the tip top surface of my life right now.
I hope everyone else is doing well.
Go on a vacation.
Summer's almost over.

Mom & Carrie's Day Out

So for my Mom's birthday a few too many weeks ago, I promised her I would take her to lunch one of these Saturdays when my Dad worked- just the 2 of us.
Today that day finally came.
Only thing was, we didn't go to lunch.
I took her to the farmers market instead.
This turned out to be way more fun.
One of my favorite things about the farmers market downtown is the array of people to watch. It's astounding how many people flock ot this Saturday morning, summer event.
All colors.
All ages.
All languages.
And they all being their dogs, too.
Which are also fun to watch.
I wish I had brought my camera to take pictures...
They sell everything at the farmers market downtown.
Everything.
Produce.
Pastries.
Jewelry.
Clothing.
Art.
Stationary.
Infant accessories.
Crafty hair pins and bands.
Plants.
Purses.

Everything.

There are also musicians every so often throught it for entertainment.
This guy was pretty rad:
I have never seen such an instrument before. It had such a gorgeous sound to it. He was selling cd's that I considered getting for my sister for her yoga classes. :)

I got my mother and I two yuuuuuumy pastries to split.
They were delicious.
There were all kinds if tents there, one in particular struck our fnacy.
This couple was selling the neatest plants.
We originally went over to it because Denver has been wanting a desk plant, so I thought I'd see if there was anything there for him.
We ended up walking away with a plant for him, and one each of ourselves. :)

Here's Denver's. It's an aloe plant. Manly, right? :)

My Mother's:
Who is currently pregnant-
With twins.

And here's mine:

Sick Days Are the Worst

My apartment should be quarantined. All 3, Denver, Justin, and me have been sick. Denver had some flu bug that kept him home 4/5 work nights last week. Justin's had some sore throat and cough since mid last week. I was doomed between the 2 of them. Sure enough, Monday night it all went downhill.
Shortly after I got home from work, my throat felt as though I'd screamed and damaged it. That feeling continued to worsen and within a few hours I couldn't drink a glass of lemonade without cringing from the pain. By bedtime my throat was absolutely killing me. My head was throbbing and my body was completely stripped of all remaining energy. I cought whatever Justin had. He gave me the remainder of his medications he was taking for it. The Robitussin was/is amazing. That stuff is wonderful on the razor blade-lined throat. He also gave me a few tablets of something else he said was really helping him. I took them and went to bed.
I did not go to sleep, however.
My heart was going crazy all night. I tossed and turned, unable to sleep through the pounding heart beats. By 3:30, I called my boss hoping to leave her a voicemail. I was praying I would eventually fall asleep and I didn't want to have to worry about waking back up to call in sick.
Of course she answered. I was pretty stinking embarrased to not only have woken her up at 3:30 a.m.- but that she answered. I would ignore any call from anyone else but Denver at 3:30 in the morning.
She sounded suprised by the sound of my voice, which sounded nothing like me.
I explained to her that I was feeling awful and had been completely unable to sleep. There was no way I would be able to come into work that morning.
At 4 am I took some more Robitussin and finally crashed. Denver got home at 7. I'm not sure when he came to bed. I do know I slept with him until 5 pm that evening though. All I could do was sleep.
My mom called me to see how I was doing, concerned about the heart racing. I figured it was just part of the bug that was getting to me, but she told me to check out the medications I was taking. The Robitussen had no heart warnings. The other tablets I took before going to bed the night before, however, did. In bold, "Caution: Usage of this medication may cause increased heart rate." You don't say?!? Especially if your heart's already sensitive to such episodes... I felt pretty silly for not having read that before taking it. At least I only took one dose..
I ended up calling in sick the next day. Justin did too. All 3 residents were home, either sleeping or watching tv.

Sick days are horrible.
You can't enjoy the time off work because you feel like crap.
You're bored out of your mind, but you're body's not up to doing anything.
You lose your appeteit, making you feel worse throughout the day.
You wear the same outfit throughout both of the days you stay home from work...
Everything is exhausting.
You're so unfocused and drowsy that you leave your purse at the food establishment you had to force feed youself...
And even though you're still so tired on the third day and all you want to do is cat-nap and re-establish a routine, you know you're too needed at work to stay home again.

Is it Friday yet?

ugh.
