The weekend

In my previous post, I'd mentioned Denver's and my weekend plans.

(Refresher-
Visit the farmers market downtown;
Go see 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo';
Take Rosco to hike to Dog Lake (6 mile hike);
Maybe make some more ground flower firework bomb thingys.)

Of the activities listed, we:
Did not go to the Farmer's Market. Denver crashed too soon. (He works night shifts- 10pm-6:30am and can usually stay up for a few hours when he gets home. Not that particular Saturday. Oh well- maybe this Saturday.)

We did go see 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo'. It was really good. We both agreed that a LOT of the content seemed to be irrelevant to the main point of the movie, but it was all still really good. Subtitles and all. We went to teh 9:30pm showing of it, which didn't get out until midnight. After that we were starving so we hit Village Inn and after that we watch a few episodes of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It was a fun late night. :)

Yesterday we took Rosco on that supposed 6 mile hike. Denver accidentally led us off the correct trail- 3 miles off on a very steep and tiring trail that took us another 3 miles after that to correct that mistake. Luckily the corrective 3 miles was on a beautiful, level, shaded trail where we could actually breathe enough to talk to each other. Once we got back to the right trail, it was another steep, tiring mile to Dog Lake, but it was worth it. It was fun to watch the other dogs swim after sticks. We made Rosco swim a bit, but he hated it. We had to get in to make him swim, and we soon after discovered that there's a ton of leeches in that lake- at least where we were, so the wading ending then. :) Leeches REALLY creep me out... ew. It was another 3+ miles back to the car after that. All in all- we hiked about 10 miles- 7/10 all uphill. We decided we are both in horrible shape and are going to try to go hiking every Sunday morning. We'll see how that goes. :)

We didn't play with fireworks, but there's always this weekend. :)

 Pictures of the hike:
There were TONS of gorgeous wildflowers

Rosco took a nice dip. He didin't like it too much.
(I didn't either once we discovered teh leeches in the lake...)

  1. Carrie, looks likes lots of fun. And no rain. I was afraid you were getting rained on.
